I picked up this book at the Women's Convict prison in Hobart It is a history of the two very different men who founded the Cascade Brewery and other industries in Hobart Peter DeGraves the man most identified with the founding a bit of a rogue ambitious businessman brilliant engineer prolific liar and cheat; and Major Hugh Macintosh a soldier of fortune gentleman close friend of the Duke of Wellington and the Crown Prince of Persia fluent in 5 languages It gave a good understanding of the times and how these two men got together and founded not only the oldest continuously running brewery in Australia but also the oldest continuously running theatre A fun history giving me insights into my new home country
