Such a beautiful story of true and eternal love I just fell in love with Peter he loves with his whole heart and soul The storyline kept me intrigued right through the last pages It was the perfect book to curl up with in front of the fire this snowy winter You'll want to get your copy today and let Peter and Maddy into your hearts

Mercado Fernandez has created an interesting twist on the theme of reunion with a lost love but the way the characters react to their situation leaves me screaming with frustration When the star crossed lovers' situation eventually resolves it doesn't feel as if they've grown in any way; they've simply persisted as they were until fate finishes with themIt's sad that while the story revolves around love no where in the book is a full and balanced love well represented Consistent with popular notions any self giving aspect of love is totally obliterated For the main character a relationship built on little but passion and habit matures into one built on nothing but commitment and habit It's portrayed as a loveless relationship even though his self denial is a supreme act of love The relationship between the separated lovers presented as an undying union of souls rages off the scale in the romance category but is fatally lacking in honesty trust and openness not to mention any hint of putting the other ahead of oneself The best friend remains solidly married to the same woman from cover to cover but the happy couple's love is assumed than delineatedPerhaps the actual theme of the book is not love but the human tendency toward self sabotaging The main character and his lost love both seem to be rather adept at it

I loved this book It was well written engaging and full of heart wrenching events that brought me to tears I am not usually a fan of love stories but this is far from the ordinary in its content and the ideas that made me think of real life choicesThe main character is Peter Michaels a rising star of Boston's architectural world He finds his old shoebox a collection of memorabilia that he left at his best friend’s house The treasured items bring back bittersweet memories of his first and only love Maddy who mysteriously disappeared from his life twenty years ago Just weeks shy of his wedding to a most ambitious socialite he is still secretly tormented by memories of Maddy Marsden and he realizes that his feelings for his current fiancée can't possibly compare to his feelings for the soul mate he loved and lost so long ago Under deadline pressure from his career changing project and caught up in the whirlwind of his domineering fiancée's wedding plans Peter is finally able through the latest technology to locate Maddy and is shocked to learn the reason for her long ago disappearance and soon finds himself forced to make the one choice he never thought he could make

I got this book from the library as the premise of the story sounded interesting I just finished reading it before heading into hospital for an operation My words to my husband after I came around from the anaesthetic was I hope I didn't die during the operation because as an avid reader I didn't want the last book I had read to have been one of the worst books I had ever read That pretty much says it all

Nothing about this book was appealing First he's getting married Then he decides he doesn't love his fiancee and he's still consumed and obsessed with a woman from his past so he can't get married Then he's dropped the woman from the past even though he's so in love with her because he finds out his ex fiancee is pregnant Then after his daughter is raised and her mother dies he suddenly gets back with the woman from his past And his wine pairings stink Ugh
