25 starsMore than anything this reminded me of an 80s sitcom campy over the top situational comedy that relies on stereotypes assumptions and people being in the wrong place at the wrong time According to this book gay men are either shallow perfect twinks or fat sloppy bears Nino and Teddy fall into hate and into love within 48 hours Nino a model gets over the fact that Teddy is a short furry bear still trying to find Teddy on that cover; he's supposed to be riding on Nino's shoulders but obviously that dude's not a short furry anything and all is well that ends well There was no depth here and nearly all the sex was off page so there's a lot of talk and hinting and bodily humor but no actual doing Throw in a fag hag come lesbian and you got yourself a book This sounded really cute but it was just cloying

oh my god Tristan James is the best How does he do all these fantastic 'stereotypical' gay guy voices and then pull off Miro and Ian not to mention all The Sinners guys? No one can spin it like TJOtherwise maybe my favorite Jacob Flores yet Really creative characters and I love the plot Nino is so adorable and you can see his character changing in the sweetest way it's just great Such a fun read and an incredible listen TJ I love you xoxoxoHoly freakin' oh yeah it just gets better and better I can't imagine reading this book you have to let TJ read it to you he pulls it off like not one else can possibly do Def the best Provincetown book yet

From the moment Nino wakes up with a “hairy fat boy” in his bed to the moment Teddy walks out the door of the vacuous “plastic” personality he immediately loathed I was hooked I literally could not put this story down and I don’t know what I enjoyed — the main characters’ personalities the ensemble of secondary characters the author’s sense of humor or the fact that it was Bear Week and Provincetown and was filled with “sweaty hairy men” Nino a fashion model prides himself on being the perfect specimen of man He’s tall thin muscular with a head of fashionably styled dark curly hair and he lives his life by six simple rules Among them he never sleeps with a trick he never does a trick twice and of course he will never get close enough to someone to fall in love Teddy all 5’6” of him is sporting a hairy body pelt and mild pot belly He’s very self aware and he only beds bears never the shaved shallow and superficial type of guy who reminds him of his ex the man who broke Teddy’s heart eleven years ago So imagine their surprise when they wake up next to each other after a night of apparent bliss that neither can remember Their hackles are up and it’s a war of words that uickly deteriorates into snarky word missiles meant to wound Nino chases the little bear from his apartment then goes in search of a “real man” one who is not hairy so that he can get back to his normal routine of topping handsome non fuzzy men Of course they run into each other several times and it’s apparent that neither wants to remember what led up to their encounter but it’s also apparent by their easy word sparring and snappy banter that they enjoy the dynamic When they meet unexpectedly on an isolated breakaway at dusk one day the two take the opportunity to sit and talk finding they have a lot in common From sharing their early childhood experiences with being fat lonely and ignored and in Nino’s case the object of scorn from family members they move on to discuss their current difficulties and end up offering each other sound advice Nino who always considered himself a loner realizes that Teddy is becoming a friend Nino finally admits that Teddy reminds him of Teo the teddy bear that helped him through much of his childhood trauma by being there to comfort him when he was lonely And Teddy realizes that Nino reminds him of his ex and that he judged Nino too harshly based on appearance alone Teddy is so happy after his talk with Nino that he decides he’s going to seek out his ex who happens to be in town this week and he just knows that they will get back together By this point Nino was feeling closer to Teddy and he was very disappointed to hear Teddy’s plans When Teddy left while Nino reflected on their conversation his memory of the night they spent together is triggered He realizes that during that time they had both found a closeness that neither had previously experienced— the beginnings of love and affection so he’s even distraught that Teddy has gone to pursue his ex In fact Nino is so despondent that he hooks up with a trick that night and the next morning is feeling even depressed and defeated He really likes Teddy and hopes that they can find something together but it won’t happen if Teddy reconciles with his ex Circumstances in Provincetown always seem to favor a love match though and through a series of coincidences Teddy and Nino spend the afternoon together Nino tries his best to show Teddy how much he cares and although the two have fun Teddy is clueless and leaves Nino at the beach so that he can go find the ex So do they get together? Well you have to read the story to find out but suffice it to say that true love wins in the end That’s the atmosphere in Provincetown It’s always as if the town finds a way to bring hope to the hopeless love to the loveless and unite two people who are meant to be together I absolutely loved this story I loved the way the author showed us glimpses into each man’s past and allowed us to see the damaged men under the tough personas I was rooting for these two to the point where I literally couldn’t put the book down They both had well intended interference from friends that they had to either overcome or accept depending on the moment Nino had his best friend Van and unexpectedly Zach Van’s partner who offered Nino the best advice of the lot He also had Gary and uinn rooting for him and a new friend that he had made the day after his hookup with Teddy a big friendly bear named Joe Nino did some internal head shaking on that one as he’d never made friends easily and certainly never with a bear Teddy had his ever faithful fag hag Irene as well as his French Bulldog Louie and a whole group of bears which happened to include Joe The dynamics of this group of Provincetown friends made for some sweet romantic moments and some outright hilarity especially when all the bears got together Fantastic secondary characters a revisit to those we met and loved before in When Love Takes Over and a glimpse at a whole new array of men most of them fuzzy added to the fast pace of the story the humor and the oh so damaged but sweet MCs and you have a book that you simply must read I highly recommend this one to all lovers of MM romance and if you like a bit of angst and a good dose of humor don’t hesitate to buy this one Note This book was provided to me by the publisher through Hearts on Fire Reviews in exchange for an impartial review

45 starsWith this new release from Jacob Z Flores we traveled back to Provincetown this time in the middle of Bear WeekWe catch up with Nino the best friend of Van and we get to learn about his life is and how he chooses to live it Nino lives by certain rules that have brought him to where and what he is now a stunning looking male modelHe’s than surprised when he finds himself waking up next to the least likely man he can think of Not his normal fuck and run type of guy – smooth young sexy – but a bear of a man who’s a little overweightTeddy is in the same state he is just as horrified as Nino waking up next to the man in uestion With a love treasured and idolized probably in his head for then 10 years Teddy doesn’t want to think of what happened that has gotten both of them to where they are now After he lost Brody he decided that his type needed to changeSo how did he end up with Nino a man who is smooth sexy and hot?Slowly we get introduced to both their lives catch up with familiar characters from former stories and we see that Nino and Teddy seem to kind of keep getting pulled towards each otherSpecial mention should go to Jay a bear and new friend extraordinaire and in a way he starts the process of Nino seeing things in a different wayAnd we meet Irene who’s the best friend of Teddysomeone struggling with her own problems Or perhaps I should say she’s struggling with her identity and making advances on every gay man that comes aroundWhen Nino and Teddy keep bumping into each other as they share similarities in the opinion of their group of friends their friends see what they themselves refuse to see Brody ending up in Provincetown and entering the picture doesn’t help obviouslyBoth main characters realizing what happened “that night” and the events prior to them waking up together and it opens both their eyes each in their own wayTeddy is a character you can instantly love He’s friendly open kind and a good friend but the fact that he’s still pining for his “lost” young love makes him decided that he can’t be with anyone who’s like Brody the boy he lost Nino seems to be the one that has to fight for the love of the reader He’s hard to like arrogant harsh and not a good friend Still if you look behind that appearance you know there’s to his storyYou could see that as a point of criticism the way the author formed these two main characters I won’t be the judge but I do wanted to point it outThe town that author Jacob Z Flores created is lovable honest confronting and yet so special The characters are different yet so familiar to each other and to the readerI will not give away too much but the end meets every hopeful expectation It’s sizzling hot adorable loving sweet and has very nice extra parts that add to the general storyI have to say Jacob Flores seems to be growing along with this series making you want to read and connecting you with this town and the people living there I personally look forward to the next partFor me this series became a must read to the point that when I start reading I want to finish itReview posted at

When we met fashion model Nino as Van's best friend and roommate in When Love Takes Over he seemed to be nothing than fun loving twink chasing manwhore When we first meet him again in this book it seems we will get of the same as he wake up horrified to find himself in bed with a bear of a man he obviously had sex with but can't remember We hear his inner monologue as he looks on in disgust at the hairy man whose body falls well below Nino's exacting standards When Teddy wakes up to find Nino staring at him he writes him off as plastic and goes on his merry way Teddy also has no idea how he woke up with the hot bodied Nino since he only hooks up with bearsOf course Bear Week in P Town is Nino's least favorite time of the year Instead of hiding out in his apartment however he finds himself somehow making friends with Jay the biggest hairiest bear of all and unable to escape running into Teddy Soon their hate at first sight begrudgingly becomes something of a friendship Nino has been struggling personally and professionally recently and some old wounds are being reopened Teddy is unable to commit to a relationship still hung up on the man that walked out on him a decade before As Nino begins accepting the bearish men as gasp real people he also begins to accept that maybe he needs to lower the walls he's built to protect himself and look at his life and future in a way he never expected This book had a very different feel from the first book There was a slow development of a friendship between Nino and Teddy as the men find they had in common than they could have ever expected When Nino finally remembers what led up to that first night together he becomes determined to show Teddy that he is not the shallow plastic of Teddy's first impression and only hopes he is not too late As always Jacob Flores' writing easily combines humor with deeper underlying emotion that really warms you to the characters flaws and allWe get to catch up with Van and Zach Gary and uinn and are introduced to some wonderful new secondary characters such as Jay I have to admit that Teddy's fag hag friend Irene was a bit hard for me to warm to and never really won me over but since she had the same effect on the men in the book I'll assume that was to be expected If you haven't read the first book you can easily pick this one up as a standalone I'm definitely looking forward to the next story in the series

I will be completely honest and say that when I read the description for 'When Love Gets Hairy' book three in Jacob Flores' 'Provincetown' series I giggled off and on for two whole days How could I not? Nino is totally and completely an Abercrombie Fitch model he loves the twinks who arrive on the ferry he's arrogant vain shallow and he really really really needs to meet his match To have the author write his match as an older out of shape Bear? Priceless Jacob simply priceless I couldn't wait to open up this book and watch the verbal sparring commence I was not disappointed At AllThe best thing ever? Watching Nino's reaction when he discovers the furry beast in his bed is just as repulsed by Nino What? How could that be? He should be thanking his lucky stars he had the privilege of being with Nino But since neither of them can remember anything it's good riddance to bad rubbish respectively snort Except Nino starts wondering if he's become as “plastic” as Teddy accused him of being and Teddy can't stop thinking about the gorgeous man These thoughts cause serious concern though Nino dragged himself out of a miserable childhood where he was overweight very poor and rejected constantly to become a top male fashion model Teddy had an eually miserable childhood with a stripper mother who fixated on looks and since Teddy's broken heart in college by a “plastic” man he has stayed with the real people a little overweight and hairy not waxed and sculpted How are these two ever going to see eye to eye? Much less fall in love?Oh but the author wove a tangled web running through P Town Everywhere Nino and Teddy went they either ran into each other or ran into friends who knew the other They couldn't get away from each other and it wasn't helping the situation Between Louie Teddy's dog who falls madly in love with Nino to Jay Teddy's friend with a heart of gold who adopts Nino as his friend these men don't stand a chance What was even better though was watching Nino thaw from being such a jerk Granted he was that way as a self defense mechanism but I loved seeing Teddy and him get to be friends and then It was the absolute ultimate opposites attract except at the very core they weren't that different after all I can honestly say that so far this has been my favorite book of the series I loved Nino and Teddy The supporting cast including Irene Jay and Louie were fantastic and made the book even better Thank you Jacob for another wonderful read that I can wholeheartedly recommendNOTE This book was provided by Dreamspinner Press for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews

What can I say about book three When Love Gets Hairy? I didn’t like Nico in the first book he is the best friend to Van I did not hate him; he was just irksome and his character held little interest for me It follows that his book is my least favorite of the series Flores didn’t make me like him or see WHY a sweetheart such as Teddy would fall for such an ass I guess what I am saying is all of book three felt forced to me Oh and fart jokes? Really? Yes it is a perfectly normal part of life but really?Find the Full review at Prism Book Alliance

Nino is a model and he looks perfect He only does one night stands and only with perfect people like him until he wakes up one day and finds Teddy a short hairy guy in bed with him not his type at all Nino isn’t Teddy’s type either since he gave up dating perfect looking people after his perfect looking boyfriend dumped him I liked this story better than #1 in the series it’s funny and it moves uickly I like the secondary characters although there are a lot of them and they got a little draining by the end
